Shri Laghu Annapoorna Stotram 

Shri Mad Addya Shankaracharya has created Annapoorna Stotra having Stanzas. Out these 3 Stanzas are in this Laghu Annapoorna Stotra. This is a very famous stotra and in years back many families use to recite this Laghu strotra before taking their lunch. At that time people use to sit on floor to take lunch and when everything was served in the plate, they use to place their wright hand over their plate and recite this Laghu Stotra. It is a very pious experience one should have for honouring the food before eating. There is a story how and why this stotra was created. Shankaracharya went for bhiksha in a house. The lady was unable to offer him anything expect bowing in front of him, because of her poverty. Knowing everything Shankaracharya praised Goddess Annapoorna with this stotra, who stood before him pleased by the praised. Goddess asked Shankaracharya to demand anything from her. Shankaracharya asked Goddess to remove sufferings and poverty of the lady. Goddess AnnaPoorna blessed the lady with food and money and removed her poverty. Three stanzas are in this stotra in Sanskrit and forth stanza is falshruti. Shri Mad Addya Shankaracharya is praising Goddess Annapoorna. He says O! Goddess Annapoorna you are mother of three worlds and you are in the form of Om. I am in trouble because of my bad deeds in my earlier births. I am suffering because on my wife, son and daughter. I am in deep sorrow in this sansara. I have lost my intelligence. Please bless me and protect me. You are wife of God Shiva. You give everything to your devotees who surrender you. You fulfil their desires. I am having a family of wife and children and we are hungry. O! Goddess I surrender you, please help me. O! Daughter of Giriraj, I am burning in the fierce fire of poverty. I have surrendered my intelligence to your lotus like feet. Please bless me in your ocean of kindness and blessings. The above three stanza is a very powerful Gem one should experience by reciting every day with faith, devotion and concentration. Whosoever recites receives blessings of Goddess Annapoorna and gain food, money, wealth, knowledge, success and at the end of his life becomes free from sansara (bondage of life and death). 
Thus here completes this Shri Laghu Annapoorna Stotram.

श्री लघु अन्नपूर्णा स्तोत्रम् 

भगवति भवरोगात् पीडितं दुष्कृतोत्यात् । 

सुतदुहितृकलत्र उपद्रवेणानुयातम् । 

विलसदमृतदृष्ट्या वीक्ष विभ्रान्तचित्तम् । 

सकलभुवनमातस्त्राहि माम् ॐ नमस्ते ॥ १ ॥ 

माहेश्र्वरीमाश्रितकल्पवल्ली 

महंभवोच्छेदकरीं भवानीम् । 

क्षुधार्तजायातनयाद्दुपेत 

स्त्वान्नपूर्णे शरणं प्रपद्दे ॥ २ ॥ 

दारिद्र्यदावानलदह्यमानम् । 

पाह्यन्नपूर्णे गिरिराजकन्ये । 

कृपाम्बुधौ मज्जय मां त्वदीये । 

त्वपादपद्मार्पितचित्तवृतिम् ॥ ३ ॥ 

दूत्थन्नपूर्णास्तुतिरत्नमेतत् । 

श्लोकत्रयं यः पठतीह भक्त्या । 

तस्मै ददात्यन्नसमृद्धिमम्बा । 

श्रियं च विद्दां च यशश्र्च मुक्तिम् ॥ ४ ॥ ॥

इति श्रीमद् शंकराचार्य विरचितम् श्री लघु अन्नपूर्णास्तोत्रम् संपूर्णम् ॥ 

मराठी अर्थः 

१) हे माते ॐ हेच तुझे स्वरुप आहे. तू त्रैलोक्याची माता आहेस. मागील जन्मांच्या वाईट कर्मांमुळे मी भवरोगाने दुःखी झालो आहे. पुत्र, कन्या आणि पत्नी यांच्या त्रासाने कष्टलो आहे. माझे चित्त भ्रमीत झाले आहे. तुझ्या अमृतमय दृष्टीने माझ्यावर कृपा कर आणि मला तार. 

२) शंकराची पत्नी आणि भक्तांचे मनोरथ पूर्ण करुन त्यांच्या अहम् चे व भवरोगाचे नाश करणार्‍या हे भवानी माते!, अन्नपूर्णे भुकेने व्याकुळ झालेला व मुले-बायको असलेला मी तुला शरण आलो आहे. 

३) हे गिरिराजाच्या कन्ये दारिद्राच्या वणव्यांत मी पोळून जात आहे. मी माझी चित्तवृत्ती तुझ्या चरणी अर्पण केली आहे. तू मला तुझ्या कृपेच्या सागरांत बुडवून टाक. 

४) हे अन्नपूर्णेचे लघु स्तोत्र म्हणजे रत्न आहे. या तीन श्लोकांचे जो भक्तिने पठण करतो त्याला ही अम्बा अन्न, समृद्धि, संपत्ति, यश, ज्ञान आणि शेवटी मुक्ती देते. 

अशारितीने हे श्रीमद् आद्य शंकराचार्यांनी रचिलेले लघु अन्नपूर्णा स्तोत्र पुरे झाले.
