Shri Navanath BhaktiSar Adhyay 24
DrumilNarayan had taken birth as Bhartari. Bhartari was son of God Mitra-Varuni. Bhartari in his early age was cared by a dear by offering milk and looking after all his needs of the age. Bhartari was growing in the forest started to eat leaves like dear. He learnt the language of the animals. One day Jaysing and his wife Renuka saw Bhartari in the forest and were surprised that such a small child had been left their by his mother and father. However they took him with them and took care of him, thinking all the time that they have to return the child to his mother and father one day upon their asking to do so. Jaysing and his family came to Kashi on the bank of Bhagirathi. They decided to stay there as Kashi being a holy place. One day he took Bhartari with him and went in the God Shiva temple. God welcomed the child calling him as Bhartari. Jaysing herd it and came to know that the child is a God. He told everything to Renuka and they decided to name the child as Bhartari, as God Shiva had called him as Bhartari. One day Bhartari became unconscious while playing with other children who ran away. Mitra-Varini saw Bhartari wounded came down from swarga and cured him. He took Bhartari to Renuka and introducing himself told everything to her right from Bhartari's birth. He told her to take care of Bhartari. Further he assured her that nobody would take Bhartari from them. Renuka told everything to Jaysing. As Bhartari grew older day by day, Jaysing and Renuka thought of his marriage and decided to leave Kashi and to go to their native village. However in the forest they met with the thieves who killed Jaysing and took the money and everything with them. Renuka also died because of the shock. Bhartari became very sad and could not understand what to do. However a group of traders saw him and took him with them. What happened next would be told to us in the next 25th Adhayay by Dhudisut Malu from Narahari family.
